Following successful
conclusion of the ground demonstration effort in phase 1 of the
HEAT (Helicopter Electric Actuation Technology) programme during
2002, the team of Agusta Westland, BAE Systems and Claverham have
launched phase 2 of the programme, leading to production standard
hardware and flight demonstration in 2004. The project is part
funded by the UK Government, and was launched in 1997.

Actuators forms part of the power by wire and Fly by Wire flight
control system.
